Dare to Dream

Nelson Mandela said in his Inauguration speech:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves WHO AM I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?"

Isn’t our mind filled with questions like that?

  • Who am I,
  • Am I good enough?
  • Do I dare?
  • Do I deserve to...?

In the next days I will talk about these questions and see if we can discover what it takes to bring out this power Mandela talks about.

Do you want to learn how to make your dreams become true?

Who still has dreams? Hands up! Big dreams? Impossible dreams?

Are you seriously interested to make them real?

Yes? If that is so write down your biggest dream. Be outrageous! With big dreams I mean stuff like:

  • I want to be the highest paid and most famous speaker in the world
  • I want my books to be on ALL bestseller lists
  • I want to make 1 Billion so I can give 800 Million away

You know realistic stuff like that -.)

Please do not write: I want to be rich at 35 if you are already 50 or I want to be the best tennis player in the world because these guys start at the age of 4 and we are all slightly older than that, aren't we?

Did you write you biggest, most outrageous dream down yet or do you need more time?

I will give you until my next blog entry but be aware, you must have at least one big dream, otherwise you can’t play.

Happy dreaming

Prioritize for your Time Management

Integrating new and better habits can be very difficult because we are all much too busy. Time seems to be racing and there is always so much to do - so much still unfinished. No time really to concentrate on what we want or need to change.

The only way we can get on top of that is by prioritizing. Some things are more important than others. Some are more urgent than others. Doing the "balancing act" in your everyday life requires careful and thoughtful planning of how to spend your time and energy if you don't want to burn yourself out.

Let's look at what priorities are:

1. Our priorities are based on what we value (achievement, integrity, intimacy, personal satisfaction, independence, etc.) and what our goals are (establishing/maintaining a career, raising a family, finding/maintaining a committed relationship or friendship, etc.)

2. Because each of us is a unique individual with our own values and goals, it is normal that our priorities will be somewhat different from those of other people around us. And they may conflict with the priorities of those close to us. For that reason it is very important to understand what our own priorities are before we decide to adjust them to those around us.

3. As our life changes, so do our priorities. The important thing is to stay aware what our priorities are at all times because it is so easy to get lost in "busy work" instead of spending our days doing what really needs to get done. You are the one who decides when and why activity X is more important than activity Z.

Always remember, you are the ultimate decision-maker in your life. Even when you compromise, you make a decision - the decision to compromise.

To be or not to be - the Choice is truly Yours!

When the student is ready...

I am sure you heard the saying: When the student is ready, the teacher will come. Meaning, when you are ready to understand you will hear the message.

Have you ever attended a workshop or seminar, gone home and never used anything you had learned there?
Have you ever read a book or listened to a CD course, thought it was great stuff but never used it in real life?

Most of us who are working on our personal growth will have had this experience to a certain extend. Often we are just not ready for all that books, audio programs or workshops try to teach us and we only get part of the message. But that is ok as long as we get that part and integrate it into our lives.

But more often than not people attend seminars or workshops to get all hyped up and after being back in their everyday life, all is forgotten and they are looking for the next "shot". Even though some of my collegues might not be too happy with what I say here but if you don't take at least one thing from a book you liked, a course you did or a seminar you attended and put it into action, you have probably wasted your time.

I suggest that after each training event you attend, each self-help book you read, each course you listen to, make sure you take at least one lesson and integrate that into your life before you move on.

Time is so precious and there are so many lessons to learn in life that we really have to take what is offered to us and use it to the best of our abilities.

Ready for your Eulogy?

Does that sound morbid to you?

Why are most of us so afraid of death? It's part of life, isn't it?

Nobody knows when their time will come to pass on and apart from trying our best to live a healthy, good life there is nothing much we can do about this. But we can and we must do something about how we live today!

What we do today determines who and what we will be tomorrow!

There is not point crying for what has happened in the past because we can't change that anymore. And there is no point in planning what we will do in the future unless we take the action steps to fulfill those plans.

The only time we can change is our present. We have to live today and be our Best; we have to take the right actions today to get what we want want from life. We have no time to wait until tomorrow because tomorrow might never come.

I have never heard of anyone who complaint about having done too much in his life but I heard many people who regretted not having done things they have always wanted to do while they still could.

Go out and do what you want to do NOW! Don't wait for the perfect moment. It might never come. You have to start doing the small things you want to do in order to be ready for the big things you dream of doing. Because there will never be a big bang if you don't start creating small bangs before.

Did I tell you about that post card on my desk?

"Follow your dreams. Take one step at the time...
Don't settle for less, just continue to climb."

I am going for a little climb onto my house moutain today (see picture). I have been wanting to do that for a long time.

Have a glorious day
